On 5 June 2008 the DJJV convenes a symposium on the topic "Defense Measures in Japan - Precautionary Measures or Protecionism?". The Conference is organized by the DJJV in cooperation with ARQIS Attorneys at Law, the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce, and the DJW (German-Japanese Industrial Cooperation Committee). The conference will be held partly in German and partly in English (and is scheduled to last from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.)
In the afternoon of June 6, 2008 there will first be the General Meeting of the DJJV. Thereafter the Senate of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg will be holding a reception for the members of the DJJV in the "Kaisersaal" of the townhall of Hamburg. The main speaker will be Prof. Dr. Fujita, Judge at Japan's Supreme Court. Access by invitation only.

Journal of Japanese Law Vol. 12 (Winter 2007) No. 24 is published
On 1 & 2 March 2007, the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law and the DJJV jointly organize an international conference on recent developments in conflicts of law in a comparative perspective. The symposium will be held at the premises of the Institute, Mittelweg 187, 20148 Hamburg, Germany. Its focus will be on Japan’s recently revised codification of conflict of laws. Leading experts in this field from Japan and the European Union have accepted the invitation to present lectures. English will be the only conference language. Members of the DJJV are invited to join, however an advance written application with the Secretary General of the DJJV is required.

The next ordinary general meeting of the DJJV will be held on 28 February 2007, 6 p.m., at the premises of the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Mittelweg 187, 20148 Hamburg, Germany. All members are invited to participate. The Board encourages a broad participation. Written invitations have already been sent out to the members.
